Executive Assistant

Position Description

A varied and pivotal position to support the FNQROC Board in high level administration and corporate support.

· Join an ambitious, collaborative team reporting to the Executive Officer

· 2 year contract with the opportunity for extension

· $78,184/$88,596 + Superannuation (full time position)

The Far North Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (FNQROC) represents 12 member Councils from Hinchinbrook to Cooktown with offices in the Cairns CBD. Our role is to foster cooperation and resource sharing between Councils and effectively advocate significant projects and priorities.  We work closely with regional partners and stakeholders on diverse and interesting projects across a wide and extensive geographical footprint.  We seek to appoint an organised, diligent and effective Executive Assistant to join our team.

The position:

This opportunity reports to Chief Executive Officer and works effectively within a small, ambitious team who provide a wide range of services to our stakeholders.  The role is pro-active, varied and will coordinate forward agendas, briefings, travel arrangements and prepare reports whilst fostering relationships and representing our organisation efficiently and effectively. 

About you:

We are seeking a well organised and efficient Executive Assistant to provide confidential administration, correspondence and executive support to internal and external stakeholders who are based both locally and within the wider FNQ Region.  The position will suit those with some government experience who are well organised with strong IT and logistics skills experience.

You will demonstrate experience of:

  • Previous government support in a similar position utilising your executive administration experience, strong Microsoft Office and financial administration skills
  • Proven document writing and record keeping experience within a government department
  • Skilled in logistics and planning – a laser focus on the detail and adept at preparing agenda’s, taking minutes and preparing correspondence for varied audiences
  • Working knowledge of website maintenance, social media updates and newsletter activation
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with an inquisitive and natural collaborative style.  The ability to exercise judgement and initiative to effective problem solving and acting on multiple priorities
  • A natural people person keen to work effectively in a small team.  You will be calm with exemplary customer service experience
  • An agile, well organised approach to database management, meeting preparation and logistics planning
