Hinchinbrook Shire encompasses 2,810 km2, nestled within the Herbert River Valley, just over an hours drive north from Townsville and 3 hours south of Cairns. With a population of approx 11,000 persons it has a rich multicultural population, most of whom call the heart of the Shire, Ingham home. Bound by World Heritage rainforests, the Great Barrier Reef and a diversity of geography in between, the Shire is unique in that it encompasses beach and rainforest to outback environments.
