The FNQROC LG Regional Planners Group was formed to enable Local Government Planners within the region to share their knowledge and expertise in:
As stated by DSDILGP, Regional Plans recognise diversity and identifies matters that are important and specific to a Queensland region. They support growth and development in the regions whilst protecting each region’s natural resources along with the interests of the State.
Regional plans are made through collaboration with local governments, residents, key industry groups and the wider community so that everyone’s interests are considered. Local governments in a region must consider the regional plan when preparing their local planning schemes.
The goal of the FNQROC Regional Planners Group is to position the region so it can be offered the same opportunities for involvement in the future development of guidelines, policies and legislation which is available to SEQ councils when reviews are planned.
The FNQ Regional Plan will be reviewed under the Regional Growth Framework. This is a coordinated approach to the delivery of a Regional Economic Strategy and Regional Infrastructure Plan. The boundary of these plans is essentially the RDA TN boundary. A new statutory FNQ Regional Plan will draw from these strategies. The boundary of the FNQ Regional Plan is still in negotiation. More information on the Regional Growth Framework can be found here.
Consultation is currently underway for the Regional Economic Strategy. For any queries or to provide information please email
FNQROC has endorsed our expectations of a new regional plan which can be found here.
