I can say it now.....I wish you all a cyclone free Merry Christmas!
The Coordinators as usual have been quite busy, and I will leave it up to them to update you on their activities.
The funding has been announced and unfortunately neither of FNQROC's two applications were successful. I am waiting for feedback and for the list of which projects received funding.
FNQROC arranged for IPWEA NAMS.PLUS 2 training to be held in Cairns at the end of October (usually Council officers need to travel to Brisbane to attend this training). We also successful in obtaining 50% funding for Councils from the Road Alliance – thank you! The feedback received has been very positive.
We also had the launch (but we are not allowed to call it that) of the Digital Enterprise Program (a joint project between RDA, Advance Cairns and FNQROC) this month which saw two Mayors, a deputy Mayor and a local athlete in an omelette battle guided by a local producer and a nutritionist via Googlehangout at The Jack. They all certainly worked up a sweat and only the winner took home the trophy ;) Keep an eye out for workshops being held in your area – I have no doubt Michele has been stalking your local not-for-profit groups. More information on these workshops can be found on the web, via facebook, via twitter or on LinkedIn (search 'Dive into Digital').
As many of you will know, Steven is taking on the role of Regional Infrastructure Project Coordinator. This month we interviewed for Steve's existing role as Regional Procurement Coordinator. We had a number of great applicants which was very encouraging. I am excited to announce another female to the team...Amanda Hancock. Amanda comes from the UK and brings with her diverse experience which we believe will be of benefit to FNQROC going forward. Amanda will start on 27 January 2014.
Our next FNQROC and FNQRRTG board meetings will be held on Monday 9 December 2013. The agendas for these meetings can be found here.
As most Council departments close down over December, and we at FNQROC take the opportunity to plan for the year ahead, there will be no newsletter in January. The next one will be released in early February.
