REGIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE UPDATE

Update by:  Amanda Hancock, Regional Strategic Infrastructure Coordinator

The Regional Road & Transport Group Technical Committee have been working with Shepherd Services to develop our new Program Management Tool. I am pleased to confirm that the existing works program has been moved onto the new cloud-based system, and Council officers are already seeing the benefit of far greater transparency and ease of access. Shepherd Services gave the Regional Road and Transport Group an overview of the system at their recent RRTG meeting. It is hoped the system will also benefit the Council's Elected Representatives, providing them with direct access to the system where they’ll be able to see individual council LRRS roads (Local Roads of Regional Significance) and better understand how the funding is being prioritised across the region. This project is being delivered with assistance from the Statewide Capability Development Fund (SCDF), an application-based grant program available to all Queensland local governments. The fund supports road stewardship, capability, and capacity improvements and is administered by the Dept of Transport and Main Road (DTMR).

In the meantime, work is continuing to finalise the 2-year fixed, 2-year indicative works program, which details on a project-by-project basis how the annual TIDS funding will be spent across our region. TMR requires the final program before the end of February 2025, when the data will be entered into QTRIP—Queensland Transport and Road Investment Program, which outlines the current and planned investment in road and transport infrastructure for delivery over a 4-year period—more information is available here.
